Making your own Mondrian-inspired cushion cover is demonstrated in this clear and concise crafting video. Materials required are a plain cushion cover( preferably in a tight weave such as canvas or cotton; water; medium size, firm, flat edge paint brushes; scissors; one inch wide masking tape; a sturdy piece of cardboard , saran wrap and 4 jars of textile paint - one color should be black or graphite. You may choose plain or glitter paints. Cut the cardboard about one inch smaller than the size of the cushion cover. Cover well with saran wrap and slide it inside the cover. With the masking tape, make a straight border around the outer edge and then make "blocks" of varying sizes. Be sure to press hard and make the tape very snug against the fabric. Set the black or graphite paint aside. Select your primary choice of bright color and paint the largest block. Ensure that you spread the paint evenly and firmly. Take the second color and paint 2 or 3 smaller blocks. Use the 3rd color to complete your color blocking. Set aside to dry for one or more hours. Carefully remove the masking tape and then, using the reserved black or graphite paint, color in all the blank lines. Be sure to use the flat edge of your brush to keep the edges neat and clean. Allow your print to dry very well, perhaps overnight before removing the cardboard inside and discarding. Stuff your cushion and enjoy!
